So many courses, so little time. During the 2019-2020 school year, Las Lomas will be offering a variety of new courses, and there’s something for everybody.
Among the new courses are Financial Algebra, Mandarin 3, Law and Society, Principles of Biomedical Sciences, and English 4: Literature, Film and Media.
Law and Society, which is taught by an actual attorney, will stress global law and feature mock trials. Financial Algebra will address college preparatory math covering topics like statistics and investing. In Principles of Biomedical Science, students will explore biology, medicine, and disease through hands-on projects. The course is part of the Project Lead the Way curriculum, which encourages and supports STEM education through project-based learning.
The Literature, Film and Media class focuses on the contemporary role of media and can satisfy the fourth year English requirement. The course is currently being reviewed for A-G approval, the system California universities require of its applicants.
With so many options it can be difficult to make a choice. Just remember that the college application process is very competitive so it’s important to take the recommended number of years for each subject.
