Men’s Soccer NCS Round 1

It’s a win for the Boys Varsity Soccer team! NCS round 1 was a big game for the Knights with a 2-1 win in overtime. At the end of regulation, with a score of 1-1, the Knights were nervous at the prospect of overtime. Senior, Timothy Weidinger said, “We were very anxious to win, and none of us really wanted to go into PKs (penalty kick) because anything can happen.” Thankfully, the team was able to pull out a win. However, every team always has things to work on. Senior, Douglas Jones said, “Throughout the game we lacked communication.” Sophomore Willie Stanko was very nervous going into NCS. “There was a lot of pressure going into NCS and overtime, but as a team we’re really skilled and have a lot of energy. However, there’s always going to be pressure going into overtime.” Sophomore James Ergood had some personal things to work on: “I need to work on my touch more; it wasn’t very good last night.” Stanko agreed, saying, “For our next two practices before our next game, we need to take it more seriously and get as much as we can from it.” Come see the boys play at Richmond on Wednesday at 7 for the next round of NCS!
