Because of the COVID-19 outbreak, people across the world have been stuck in their homes, keeping students not only out of school, but also out of their athletics. Despite the cancellation of practices and sporting events, it is important for one to keep in physical shape both to stay healthy and to not fall behind with one’s sports.
Sadly, although gyms are closing and people aren’t allowed to gather anymore to play sports, there are plenty of ways to stay in shape. One can go for a run in his or her neighborhood, as long as there aren’t many people outside, of course. Treadmills, ellipticals, and stationary bikes are great ways to stay in shape from home. Having accessible weights can come very handy, as well.
“If you’re involved with track, it’s really important to make sure you run every now and then,” said junior Grant Askins, “If you take a long time off, you may fall out of shape, and you’ll have to spend lots of time getting back to where you were”.
“Sometimes with the lockdown, it’s tough to remember you have a schedule you should stick to as well as possible, so I make sure to run throughout the week,” answered junior Ethan Clymer.
With the lockdown, stay creative with your workouts by finding different ways to do things you normally don’t do at home, and make sure you continue to work hard, so that when it’s time for sports to resume, you can take off running.
