The 2023-2024 season has been a massive success for both Las Lomas’s varsity and JV soccer teams. With the end of the season looming just a week away, Varsity soccer is currently sitting at an impressive record of 14-2-2, as well as being 6-1-1 in the league, good enough for 4th place. They started off the season 5-2-1 before winning 9 of their most recent 10 games. The most recent being Thursday’s 5-0 win over Benicia. Another shutout performance from Las Lomas’s Defense headlined by Jesse Li and Maverick Wilson its 12th of the season.  The brick wall on the back line, that is, their defense, has only allowed 7 goals in 14 games this season. In comparison, Junior Varsity soccer has won their last 6 games in a row and finds themselves with a 12-2-2 record, and 6-0-2 in league play, which puts them at 1st place for the league. This past season for the JV team has been one to remember in the years to come; several stars shined, and the team’s new surge of sophomores and freshmen has been a great prospect for the future development of this squad. For the second year in a row, LLHS sophomore Kai Naito has topped the stat sheet in goals (12). When asked about the impact Kai has on the team’s play when he’s on the field teammate Colton Kobsar said he’s “an intelligent player both on and off the ball, making him almost unstoppable in the perspective of the opposing team”.

Las Lomas Junior Varsity Soccer left George DeKlotz stadium victorious last Thursday night with a shutout 3-0 victory against Benicia High School. It started off with a 0-0 stalemate for the first portion of the game, but with the help of a first-half strike by Kai Naito, Las Lomas found themselves on top 1-0. The momentum continued well into the second half, and further, to the end of the match. Two more goals were snuck in before the final whistle. Both scores were products of counter-attacks, a tactic the Knights have mastered during the season. As the defense continued to grind, and the offense maintained their intense pressure on the back line, Las Lomas Junior Varsity was able to comfortably seal their 6th straight league victory.
