//Spring officially begins on March 19 and finishes on June 20. As the weather starts to warm up, we should expect a shift in fashion trends as well. More pastel colors, such as purple, light pink, yellow and baby blue, are typically seen in the spring palette. Warm hues like orange, yellow and red are also prevalent. Since flowers are known to bloom in the spring, more floral designs will start to show up in people’s clothes. The explosion of upcycling in spring fashion is a significant aspect. More and more people are starting to purchase at flea markets and secondhand stores. The Berkeley Flea Market and Alameda Antique Fair are two of the most well-known flea market locations in the Bay Area. Walnut Creek doesn’t have any second hand markets, but it does have a lot of thrift shops, like Savers and the American Cancer Society Discovery Shop. While secondhand and upcycled items can be found at these markets and shops, well-known retailers also start releasing new spring collections in February and early March. While stylists and celebrities frequently get inspiration for their designs from major fashion events, other people typically turn to fashion magazines. Vogue, Glamor, Cosmopolitan and other fashion magazines are among the most well-known ones.

People also tend to wear lighter, more flowy apparel when the temperature warms, moving away from the cold of winter and toward summer. Especially in California in which the weather gets warmer earlier than most places. Bulky jackets and heavy clothing start to make their way back to the closet and let these more spring-oriented fashions take the spotlight.
