// Last week, Las Lomas High School celebrated its basketball legacy by hosting an event that brought back former players to inspire and rally support for the current Men’s basketball program. The event, held in the school gym, provided students, staff, and community members a chance to connect with the athletes who have contributed to the school’s rich basketball history. Las Lomas’s basketball program has had some amazing success, most notably with the 2018 team going to the Division 1 state championship.

The gathering featured a lineup of past players from a multitude of class years. These athletes all went onto different paths after high school. Some continued or are currently continuing to play basketball in college, while others traded in their basketball shoes for a different route. The alumni game emphasized the values of teamwork, perseverance, and school pride.

The event also served to draw attention to the upcoming basketball season. Current team members were introduced with a round of applause, with the head coach speaking about their goals for the year, also highlighting the hard work of the players during pre-season training. Las Lomas is looking to have a strong season, aided by a new coach who believes in their potential, Phil Galvin. Starting in  2019, Galvin worked as the Technical Director of the NBA’s Basketball School in Dubai, leaving the job to branch into coaching high school basketball.

By bridging the past with the present, Las Lomas’s basketball alumni game succeeded in bringing energy to the Las Lomas basketball community. With a renewed sense of pride and support, the Knights are ready to take on the season ahead, cheered on by a legacy of excellence.
